The 2-type bit is wonderful for horses that have fleshy thick lips. Unfortunately we have a tendency to put a too wide a bit in this type of horse and the 3 piece bit does not stay centered where it belongs. By using a 2-type you can put in a smaller (narrower) bit that fits the mouth better and not interfere with the thick lips. This then centers the bit and puts the middle piece in the middle of the mouth where it belongs.

The Sprenger 2-type Turnado snaffle is gentle on the corners of the horse's mouth due to its eggbutt shape in combination with loose rings. The combination of the eeggbutt shaped corners and the flexible loose rings ensure extrememly gentle pressure on the horse's mouth. The result is less force exerted by the rider's hand, high acceptance by the horse due to the two-fold signals to the horse's mouth.
